NPCI, Fiserv to offer ‘nFiNi’– RuPay credit card stack for FinTechs & Banks

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Fiserv Inc. have agreed to launch plug and play RuPay credit card stack, ‘nFiNi.’ This BaaS (Banking-as-a-service) program provides a ready stack of services required for fintech and banks to issue RuPay credit cards.

Fiserv is a global payment and financial technology company. It operates in areas including account processing, digital banking solutions, card issuer processing, and network services, payments, e-commerce, merchant acquiring, and cloud-based point-of-sale solution.

Details of this scheme

Under this program, NPCI and Fiserv will expand the market base by enabling fintech firms and banks on credit cards. Fintechs that primarily serve the new-to-bank-and-credit client will be allowed to extend credit to this segment once onboarded with the nFiNi platform.

The nFiNi platform, a ground-breaking plug-and-play RuPay credit card stack, will power RuPay cards by providing access to critical services via the NPCI network. It is also combined with FirstVision- a cloud-based open Application Programming Interface (API) integrations from Fiserv.

The FirstVision microservices-based platform-as-a-service includes APIs for coordinating the digital user experience. It also pushes alerts for in-app, SMS, and WhatsApp notifications, simplified integration options, and instant digital card provisioning. It will allow customers to transact right away after obtaining card approval.

Expectations from nFiNi

Through its offerings, the nFiNi initiative will significantly reduce onboarding time. It will also reduce the amount of time it takes to host a card management system that includes transaction processing, fraud, and risk monitoring, open APIs, and other services that support card operations. On nFiNi, FinTech can now collaborate with banks to establish new credit card programs. This will result in considerable operational and customer management efficiencies for banking and fintech firms at various levels. These institutions will be able to extend their market to include new-to-credit customers as a result of the program.
